Doctoral Studies

The School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Haifa offers a Ph.D. program allowing students to research in-depth a topic of interest under the advisership of one of the School’s faculty members.

The doctoral program is intended for students seeking to expand the borders of the current state of knowledge in fields related to environmental studies. Researchers will conduct original research in theoretical and/or applied topics that represent a significant contribution to their chosen field of study.

To enroll in the doctoral program students typically have completed a relevant Master’s degree from an accredited university with a thesis, though there are options for a direct (combined master’s and Ph.D.) tract as well as a tract for completing a thesis for those holding a relevant master’s degree but lacking a thesis.

The doctoral program requires a limited amount of coursework, chosen in consultation with the doctoral candidate’s advisor, and submission of a dissertation (typically 3 academic articles published in leading academic journals or an equivalent contribution).

Prospective students are encouraged to contact their potential advisor(s) directly.

Post-Doctoral Studies

The School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Haifa has options for post-doctoral specializations, for those holding a Ph.D. from an accredited university who wish to further their research.

Post-docs typically lead cutting edge research in collaboration with one or more of the School’s faculty members.

Options for post-doc positions are typically subject to the current research interests, projects and funding of the affiliated faculty member, though a variety of potential funding sources are available.

Prospective Post-docs are encouraged to contact their potential faculty host(s) directly.
